I was Skymiles Silver (October 2011). Opened offer for Amex Skymiles Platinum that read ‘exclusive offer for medallion members’. Applied online for card and approved in less than five minutes. Received card a week later on October 4.

Offer: first purchase 15k miles of which 5k are MQM’s, then purchase $1500 by end of calendar year and get 25k miles of which 10k are MQM’s, plus use card on Delta purchase (any amount) and get $100 statement credit.

Went to grocery store (Dillons/Krogers) and bought three $500 gift cards (I buy gas and groceries there anyway…should be used up in a month or so with my family.

Miles just posted (40k miles and 15k MQM’s) on October 12 as five transactions on same day. Unbelievable.

I bought a snack on a flight yesterday with the card and just cut it up. I am canceling card after paying off my $1500 gift card purchase next month. There is a $150 annual fee and with my soon to post $100 statement credit will be $50.

Well worth it. I am a Dave Ramsey follower and ‘bent the rules’ here, but was worth it in my opinion. I have no credit cards now (as before) and got my email from Delta already that I am Gold Medallion and I have 40k miles for 30 minutes of effort.

Very cool.

I'll be canceling my account with Chase after my first attempt to navigate the new Ultimate Rewards web site. It's no longer possible to simply trade your points for statement credit, now you must redeem them for individual purchases made in the last few days. The site dose not streamline the process, it doesn't give you a list of eligible purchases. You need to click back and forth between the rewards page and your statement, and enter the date, and amount of the purchase one by one.

When I called Chase, to ask if there was some way around the poorly implemented new system, it took 20 minutes to navigate though their phone tree. When I finally spoke to a live person it was someone who spoke English poorly, and told me that generic statement credits had never been possible. An obvious lie, I've been using my credits for statement credits for years.

Chase, you used to be the best credit card in the business, now you are just a sad mockery of your former self.

"While other credit card issuers are limiting or restructuring their reward programs, Chase launches a new rewards program - Ultimate Rewards. "

The point system for Chase's Ultimate rewards results in fewer points per dollar than the old system. Chase has limited their program.

Great information on the Chase Sapphire card. it sounds like you can make some serious rewards and points with this type of credit card. Though, you will just need to make sure to pay of the full amount each month and you could seriously come out ahead. Thanks for your site!

Chase is sooooo crooked. So I just called and asked the rep "Is there a way for me to pay my higher interest purchases first?" and he flat out says No. Then I say, "what about the Blueprint program that you guys have?" Then he says, "Oh...in that case YES." I was like, WHAT!? He proceeds to explain that he's not allowed to talk about blueprint or bring it up unless the caller brings it up first!! I said are u serious?? Then he tells me he's going to connect me to a blueprint specialist. I get connected and the "specialist" tells me that I don't have blueprint on my card. I said I know, I'm calling because I'd like to enroll. He tells me I can't, that's only available for selected customers. I tried finding out what I would have to do in order to enroll but apparently it's completely random and only selected few are being offered the privilege. What a load of crap!! F-in CROOKS!!!! I swear, once i'm done paying them off.......i'm DONE.
