Have you ever wondered if top executives or employees of companies actually use the products or services they sell? Like, do all Ford employees drive Ford vehicles? Probably not, but it is interesting to know what employees think of the very products or services they produce. With PlasticRewards.com now featuring over 200 credit cards, knowing which credit cards some of our employees have might be interesting to know.
The owner carries two credit cards, an American Express® and a MasterCard®. He chose the Starwood Preferred Guest® credit card from American Express® because it is accepted at the local wholesale club where it is used to buy gas, groceries and more. The biggest benefit cited is the ability to redeem points for free hotel stays or airline tickets, so almost all of the major travel expense are free. Points can be redeemed for hotel stays at over 825 hotel locations and on over 30 different airline partners.
For the MasterCard®, he uses a USAA Platinum MasterCard®; a 1.25% cash back credit card. This card is used for all of his other purchases where American Express® is not accepted. The cash back rebate is a tiered program with the cardholders receiving the 1.25% only after charging $25,000 a year on the card. And no he has never charged that much. The card doesn’t get used that much anymore, but given the level of customer service received at USAA, he says there is no need to change.
Another PlasticRewards.com employee has several credit cards he uses regularly like the Platinum Delta SkyMiles® credit card from American Express®. This card earns points on every purchase that can be used for free flights on Delta Airlines; like the trip he took to Hawaii for free. Another favorite is the Chase Platinum Visa® card which offers a competitive interest rate on purchases. For cash back, he uses the Discover® More card which he pays off every month earning free cash of up to 5%.
For the next car purchase their family makes, they earn points towards the purchase with the Citi® Driver’s Edge® Platinum Select® card. This card earns reward points through Citi’s ThankYouSM Network which can be redeemed for a rebate that is applied to the purchase of a new or used vehicle. The rebates earned on this credit card are as high as 6% at supermarkets, drug stores and gas stations for the first twelve months and 3% after. All other purchases he makes anywhere else earn a 1% rebate.
